User research: summary

For this user research, I conducted interviews and gathered qualitative data from parents aged 21-60 who use therapy services. Initially, I assumed that time constraints and scheduling flexibility would be their primary concerns when seeking therapy through an app.

However, after conducting the research, it became clear that accessibility features like voice input and larger fonts for users with disabilities, as well as a focus on parent-child therapy options, were equally important. Additionally, many parents valued the opportunity for privacy and remote consultations, shifting my understanding of the app’s key user needs.

User research: pain points

Time Constraints and Scheduling Flexibility

Parents have busy lives and often struggle to find time for therapy sessions. To address this, the app should offer flexible appointment scheduling, including options for quick consultations or asynchronous communication with therapists.

Accessibility
Features

Users with disabilities need an app that accommodates their specific needs, such as voice input and larger fonts. Future designs will prioritize customizable accessibility options to ensure a seamless user experience for all.

Parent-Child
Therapy

Many parents want therapy options that involve their children to strengthen family dynamics. Designing features that enable family-based therapy sessions and tools to support parent-child communication will be crucial.

Emotional and Mental Health Support Post-Divorce

Divorced parents often seek emotional support for themselves and their children. The app should offer specialized therapy resources for co-parenting, helping users manage emotions and maintain healthy relationships post-divorce.

Persona 1: Anna Müller

Problem statement:
Anna Müller is a 35-year-old working mother of two who needs a flexible and accessible therapy solution because she struggles to balance her demanding job, family responsibilities, and mental well-being while wanting to improve communication with her children.

Persona 2: Luca Rossi

Problem statement:
Luca Rossi is a 42-year-old divorced father who needs a user-friendly therapy app that helps him manage post-divorce emotions and improve co-parenting because he feels disconnected from his son and struggles with emotional stress while navigating co-parenting responsibilities.
